Finnish Roots
The Finnish Sauna Company is built on Finnish sauna culture, practical sauna-building experience and project execution in the Philippines. Our Finnish roots include Tampere, known since 2018 as the Sauna Capital of the World. Sauna is something our Finnish team grew up with, and that is where our thinking starts: heat, löyly, ventilation, stones, bench geometry, materials and how the room is actually used.
In 2020, sauna culture in Finland was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. That recognition concerns the culture in Finland, not any individual company. Our work is to bring those principles carefully into Philippine homes, hotels, resorts, clubs and wellness projects.

When the sauna sits inside a wider architectural concept, we work alongside the architect or interior designer. You keep control of the space; we resolve the sauna-specific technical requirements so the room performs as intended.
A good sauna is not simply a temperature reading. Heat, ventilation, bench height, stone capacity, materials and löyly all contribute. Löyly is the heat and steam you feel when water is thrown onto hot stones.
Each of these is a design decision, made before anything is built.

Materials & Equipment
We work with sauna-suitable timbers including thermo woods, hinoki and other selected species, chosen according to the concept and where the material is used.
Timber can be combined with glass, stone, microcement and other architectural materials where suitable for the temperature, moisture and construction of the space. Final specifications are developed during design.
The room decides the heater. Selection follows room volume, glazing and other heat-loss surfaces, the available electrical supply, the use pattern, stone capacity, controls, the ventilation strategy and the kind of sauna experience you want.

Lighting inside a sauna has to be designed for heat, humidity and placement — not simply selected as ordinary architectural lighting.
We use specialist Finnish sauna-lighting systems, including Cariitti, with solutions designed specifically for hot-room conditions. Depending on the design, this can include concealed indirect LED lighting, fibre optics, heater and stone lighting, bench lighting and integrated architectural details.
Some Cariitti sauna LED systems are rated for ambient temperatures up to 125°C, with IP67 protection and high color rendering, while their glass-fibre systems can tolerate temperatures up to 180°C. For hotter zones, fibre optics allow the light source itself to remain away from the most extreme temperatures.
We generally favor warm, low-glare illumination rather than brightly lighting the sauna. Cariitti recommends 2700K for sauna applications, which suits the restrained, warm atmosphere we design for.
The goal is not to see the light fixture. It is to see the timber, stone, steam and space properly.
